Choosing a Las Vegas Hotel - Location is Key

When visiting Las Vegas, you want to ensure that you stay in the hotel that is best suited to you. But which hotel is the best? Of the hundreds of Las Vegas hotels, how do you know which one to entrust your hard-earned money to, in order to ensure that you have the vacation of your dreams, rather than your worst nightmare?

Well, there's no simple answer to this. After all, we all have different ideas of what makes the perfect hotel. However, in my experience, many people would benefit from the old home-buying advice ... the 3 most important points to consider are - location, location & location.

Its obvious really - unless you plan to confine yourself to your hotel for the duration of your stay (and how many people visiting Vegas want to do that?), the location of your accommodation can make the difference between walking miles, carrying shopping bags around, and queuing for (and paying for) taxi cabs ... or ... having a handy base that you can pop back to, easily and quickly, as often as you like.

One of the biggest mistakes made by many tourists visiting Vegas is to under-estimate the length of the Strip. The reality is that Las Vegas Strip is 4 miles long, so if you book into a hotel that is "on the Strip", you could find that you need transport to get to the main central attractions. For example, the Stratosphere is a reasonable economy hotel in the North of Las Vegas Strip. However, this hotel is around 2 miles from the central Strip hotels, such as Caesars Palace and the Bellagio, and this is, for many people, too far to walk. And if you don't mind walking, you may soon realize that the area around the Stratosphere is not the most pleasant area to walk through - I personally feel unsafe walking in this area at night.

The same problem can arise around some of the hotels that are located "just off the Strip". On the map, the hotel may appear to be very close to the Strip, but when you actually get there, you are likely to find that the distance is further than you imagined. Also, once you leave the Strip, the neighbourhoods rapidly become quite 'seedy' so you may not want to walk through these areas at night.

The best solution when staying off the Strip is to travel by taxi cab at night. But this, of course, costs money! Could it be that the lower price you paid for your off-Strip hotel is a false economy?

I'm not trying to say that location is the only factor to consider when selecting a Las Vegas hotel. However, location is one of the most important factors, which can sometimes be improved at no extra cost, and yet is frequently overlooked.

Before you book into a hotel, check the prices of other hotels and do the math! You might find that, if you add in the cost of transport to and from your hotel (possibly several times a day), an off-strip hotel works out more expensive than a similar standard of hotel in a central-strip location.

People who prize luxury choose the very best to assure their Las Vegas experience is satisfying. Las Vegas is the place for self-indulgence. It's the Mecca of utopian glitz and glamor. This makes it easier to find the right hotel rooms that suit most anyone wishes and dreams. This glamorous fantasyland has all of the amenities above and beyond most expectations. Here, it's amusement amid opulence; but, opulence that's very affordable. It just makes sense to treat oneself to a stay at luxury hotel rooms . Even if the casinos are not the main reason for booking a luxury hotel room here, the experience of this city on the desert floor of Nevada is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be as close to the limits of grandeur as possible.

The Many Sights and Sounds

Choosing luxury hotel is a unique opportunity to drink in all that this city has to offer within close distance to room accommodations. Luxury hotel rooms on the Vegas Strip, along the 3.8 mile long Las Vegas Boulevard, provide a view of Stratosphere Tower and the famous "Welcome to Las Vegas" sign that greets all visitors to this amazing town. This is also the location of some of the most famous Hotels and Casinos such as Harrah's, MGM Mirage, Circus Circus Las Vegas, Planet Hollywood, Red Rock, The Las Vegas Hilton, The Tropicana, Hooters, Bally's and a host of others. All offer, hotel accommodations as well as nightlife and entertainment and casino gambling on a 24/7 basis.

How to Find Luxury Hotel Rooms In Vegas

Though there are numerous hotels in this city of bright neon lights, choosing from the best of the luxury hotels isn't complicated. For a listing of the best rated 4-star luxury hotels, there are various resources of information on how hotels are rated and which hotels receive top ratings. Look for 4 and 5 star hotel rating in terms of the best luxury hotel.

What to Look For In Luxury Hotel in Las Vegas

Clearly, amenities in a luxury hotel room are the deciding factor on which hotel is most attractive. The first thing to consider is whether a luxury hotel room is desired in a casino or a non-gaming facility. In gaming facilities, there are luxury suites for high rollers who require a room where the intent is to remain in the particular casino for gambling purposes. This is most often the choice of tourists whose sole purpose to visit Vegas is gambling. For others, a hotel in a non-gaming facility might be a better choice. Rooms needn't be large. But, they should reflect substantial luxury. In addition to room accommodations, amenities may include a sauna, masseuse, chauffeur service to and from the nearby airport, short day trips to local sites of interest or dining packages at the hotel or off site. Discounts can be arranged for hotel stays through the travel agent or as part of online travel packages. These discounts are a great way to save on vacation expenses for casinos or restaurants.

Las Vegas Hotel Wedding Chapels

A wedding day is one of the most significant and special days in one’s life. While some like to celebrate this day amidst their loved ones, others consider this occasion a very personal one, and hence get married in the most private and convenient way possible. A hotel wedding chapel is useful for this very purpose.

Moving away from the wacky culture of Las Vegas, some prefer holding a very quiet wedding, with only their loved ones around. This is a wonderful way of getting married, as the privacy of the couple is kept in mind, and the wedding is not very costly either.

There are lots of hotels in Las Vegas that provide couples with beautiful and unique wedding chapels. Different hotels have different things to offer in terms of wedding chapels. For example, at the Alexis Resort the couple can choose from an elegantly decorated ceremony room or a beautiful gazebo set amid lush landscaping. The prices vary depending on the services offered.

There are more than 9 packages to choose from at the Hotel Bellagio wedding chapel, such as the Millennium, which includes the features of a normal package along with champagne, Belgian chocolates, two Waterford toasting flutes, limousine service, and one-day spa passes for two. The wedding chapel at the Sahara hotel offers packages like a Celebrity Wedding Suite, Legendary Wedding Suite and Presidential Wedding Suite.

Most of the hotel wedding chapels can accommodate around 100 to 300 guests.

The cost generally fluctuates depending on services of the hotel wedding chapel. It can start from $300, while the upper limit cannot be defined. For couples looking for a quiet yet romantic wedding, a Las Vegas hotel wedding chapel is the most sought-after option.

Guide to Cheap Las Vegas Hotels

Las Vegas is probably on of the most famous US cities in the world. Being famous for its entertainment, casino resorts, gambling and shopping opportunities, Las Vegas attracts millions of visitors every year. Of course, there are a lot of hotels in Las Vegas.

The most famous Las Vegas hotels and casinos are located on the Las Vegas Strip also known as Las Vegas Boulevard. Some of the most famous hotels situated at Las Vegas Strip are Trump Hotel Las Vegas, the Bellagio, the MGM Grand, the Mandalay, the Wynn, the Venetian Resort Hotel Casino etc. The northern end of the Strip is the Stratosphere Hotel Resorts and the southern is the McCarren International Airport. Not long ago the hotels started offering whole family entertainments which increased the number of visiting families.

Another very popular street in Vegas is the Fremont Street which is located in downtown Las Vegas and it is one of the oldest streets in the city. Actually the first casinos were opened there as well as the first telephone with number 1 was installed there. The Fremont Street is featured also in many movies. Many famous Las Vegas hotels and casinos are located on this street such as Fremont Hotel and Casino, Golden Gate Hotel and Casino, Binion's Horseshoe, Golden Nugget, Eldorado Club, Pioneer Club, the Mint etc. You can see amazing light shows there. In the beginning of every show, the neon lights are turned off including the ones of the hotels and casinos.

Cheap hotels in Las Vegas can be found as well if you are looking for one. There are a lot of hotels that offer discounts online as well as very good prices if you book earlier. Discount Las Vegas hotels (three and four stars) offer prices from $30 to about $90 per night. There is an offer of the Stratosphere Tower and Casino resort Hotel for $44 per night, $79 of Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino, $80 of MGM Grand Hotel and Casino etc.

Las Vegas Hotels With the Best Family Oriented Pools

Every year my boys can't wait for our annual family Vegas vacation. This year it will be our 7th year. Lots of people disagree that Vegas is a good place for families with children, but we love it. My husband and I are not gamblers or drinkers and we truly enjoy spending our free time with our two boys.

Las Vegas has so much to offer beside the gambling and the nightlife. Every year there is more stuff to see and experience.

We usually visit Las Vegas every September right after Labor Day weekend. The weather is great and we can't wait to lounge by the pool sipping cold drinks. We always pick a hotel with the best pool that is family friendly and we won't get dirty looks by bringing our boys down. The top 3 picks of our family are The MGM Grand, The Monte Carlo and The Mirage.

#1 The MGM Grand
The MGM Grand has an amazing pool complex. In my opinion one of the best in Vegas. You feel like you entered an exotic paradise with lots of lush greenery, beautiful flowers, fountains and little island connected with bridges. This massive over 6 acre paradise offers 5 swimming pools, 3 whirlpools and lazy river. The lazy river was a hit with my family. It floats under bridges, through waterfalls and ends in a little Lagoon with waterfall which is perfect wading pool for babies and little ones.

I must admit this paradise has a few drawbacks. One of the drawbacks is that you need to rent a tube or a raft to truly experience the lazy river . I believe the rental is $15 per tube per day. The MGM Grand is known to run special promotions where you can get the rental cheaper, free or 2 for 1. Before you book your room you should check out websites with coupons for MGM (just go to Google and type coupons MGM Las Vegas in to the search - early vegas is a good one). The second drawback is that the pool complex is located quite far from the guest elevators. You need to walk through the promenade with stores and restaurants to get to the pool, but the walk is well worth it.

#2 The Monte Carlo
The Monte Carlo pool is much smaller in comparison to the pool complex at The Grand , but we enjoyed it regardless. They are kids friendly and that's all that matters.

The Monte Carlo offers 3 swimming pools, whirlpool and kids pool. If you are visiting Las Vegas with little kids you will love the enclosed kiddie pool with kids size beach chairs. The wave pool with 3ft waves was designed to simulate the ocean and is a blast for the whole family. If you want to have a swim then try the Lagoon pool. It is a nice and relaxing square pool with a waterfall. My favorite was the relaxing 400 feet of Easy River Ride. There is a tube rental as well, but you can purchase a tube inside their beach shop for around $12.00 and the rental shop will even blow it up for you. This is a real money saver for larger families or longer stay like us. After you done with it , why not pass the tube onto a new family.

#3 The Mirage
The pool at the Mirage is a series of pools connected by bridges and lagoons with cascading waterfalls in tropical setting. They used to have a waterslide , but to a big disappointment of my children they closed it down. They offer raft rental to float around, but we never needed one. You can ask for complimentary life jackets for children. The pool is located close to the guest elevators just down a little promenade with few stores, coffee bistro and ice cream shop. If you will decide to order a drink take my advice and order small size. If you don't specify they will bring you a huge drink with even bigger price tag.

Just a tip: Most of the pools in Vegas say that you are not allowed to save lounge chairs at the pool, but everybody does it. If you don't you won't get a good spot because hundreds of people before you ignored the rule. Live and Learn.

Enjoy Las Vegas with Kids.

Family Hotels in Las Vegas City

Nearly 40 million tourists visit Las Vegas, Nevada, every year. This is a very large number compared to the population of only 600,000 citizens. So it is not a big surprise that some of the world's largest hotels are located in Las Vegas and Clark County. Interestingly, the major parts of the most famous road of Las Vegas, the Las Vegas Boulevard better known as the Strip, do not belong to the city of Las Vegas.

Many guides about hotels in Las Vegas are focused on the large and famous superb Las Vegas hotels at the Strip but even with several discounts many families cannot afford to stay in the Bellagio or the Venetian. Therefore, this guide is more related to family hotels in Las Vegas. There are some relatively cheap alternatives even at the Strip which are well-known as family-friendly Vegas hotels.

One of the most famous hotels for families is the Excalibur Hotel. The Excalibur is a modern 3 star hotel that was built in 1990. With around 4000 rooms it was the world largest hotel at the time of the opening. The Excalibur is designed as a huge castle and named after the legendary sword of King Arthur. Nowadays, it has the largest family pool of all hotels.

Another very famous family hotel in Las Vegas is the New York New York hotel. One of the largest attractions of the hotel with the design of the skyline of New York is a big roller coaster in front of the hotel. Within the large hotel complex, the New York New York has around 2000 rooms as well as many affordable restaurants and several family and fun pools.

There is one hotel in Vegas located on the Strip which is hardly mentioned in the reviews of hotels. That is the Flamingo hotel. Although it offers very competitive prices and has a nice and family-friendly pool, it is hardly recommended by any hotel guides. With its around 3500 rooms the Flamingo is among the largest hotels in Las Vegas. It is located directly at the Strip and you can reach easily all the famous attractions from there.

If you are looking for the best Vegas hotel at a moderate price level, you should consider the Monte Carlo hotel. It is absolutely family-friendly and has a large pool and entertainment area. Since it is located next to the New York New York, you can get to the roller coaster there easily. All major attractions at the Strip including the different movie and musical theaters can be reached easily. The rooms are very clean and offer high comfort for affordable prices.
